DMC hosts sneak peek of Berkman apartments


ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Destination Medical Center gave a sneak peek of the the Berkman apartments construction site today.

The project was developed by the Minneapolis-based Alatus real estate company and has been in the works for four years.

It is across from Mayo Clinic’s St. Mary’s Hospital and will feature restaurants, stores and fitness centers in addition to the apartments.

“Adding housing to a strong and vibrant downtown is critical to a successful Rochester, so this is a perfect add and perfect timing for just that,” said Lisa Clarke, The executive director of the Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency.

The building is 14 stories high and will feature a wide variety of units including micro-studio apartments, penthouses and town homes. Prices for the units range from $1,000 to $6,000.

The first set of tenants will begin moving into the building in March. According to DMC, the project is on track to be completed to be in July and will ultimately cost more than $100 million.
